Car Races

We've been spending a lot of time outside to enjoy the weather.  Since we can't play in our tiny, black widow infested backyard, we always walk across the street the "the field" and tot lot.  We discovered that taking our ride on toys to the field can be hours of fun.

Joy cried every time is was Claire's turn to go down the hill.  I thought that after a few times she would realize that it was okay, she would get her turn in a second, but no.  We did this for over an hour and she threw a fit every time.

Wipe out!

Something hilarious....

"If Sister can do it....

then so can I!"

Running.
Rolling.

Later, we took two ride-on cars so they could have races and not have to take turns.

Claire was very kind and helped Joy get her car to the top of the hill time and time again.

All play stops when a plane flies overhead.

Not sure what she was doing here.

These sisters love each other.

This and That about Joy

My little Joy.

She is the sweetest little girl.
She is now 15 months old and 18 lbs.

She loves her big sister

and tries to be like her as much as she can.
l

Her favorite thing to do at the park is swing.  She screams and cries whenever I take her out.

She is not afraid to try things...Especially if she saw Sister do it.

Today she went down the slide by herself.  She didn't even need a push off the top.

When Joy is working at something you can tell she is concentrating very hard.
She doesn't stick things in her mouth anymore.  She really seems to have more common sense than most babies.....or four years olds for that matter.

She has fashion sense...

Except for when she wears her jeggings with her cloth diaper - which she does a lot.

She loves her stroller and cries to get in it whenever she sees it.

She is a girl of few words.  The only words she says are "Mama" and "Ki-ee" for kitty.  Everything else is a grunt or "bah" that only Josh and I can distinguish.  We usually can tell exactly what she wants though.

She recently got 4 molars. (one on each quadrant of her mouth.)  She is weaned (finally) except for a few sips right before bed.   In the past week she has started SCARFING down food.
She has no problem eating half a peanut butter and honey sandwich.  Yesterday after a huge breakfast, she ate an entire mcdouble and most of my parfait, followed by an adult portion of mashed potatoes and stuffing and turkey for dinner.  She is picky about what she eats though and if she doesn't want it, she won't eat it without a fight. (and let me tell you, we fight until I win)  Her favorite food hands down is avocados with garlic and salt mashed in.
Look at that belly!

As she grows older, she is getting a little more spice mixed in with her sugar.
If we tell her "no" over any little thing, this happens.  (this time it was because I told her there was no more food) Sometimes she'll walk away a few steps and throw herself on the ground.
she only screams for about 5 seconds, pops in her fingers and recovers.
then it's not long before my happy-go-lucky Joybug is back to her usual jovial self.
Little Bug, we love you!

What's the Deal?

Skinny dipping in November....
that's what we do in Arizona.
I am so sick of this weather...

But apparently these two aren't.

Halloween Events

Halloween was a lot of fun for us this year.  For some reason we waited til the night before to carve our pumpkins and watch Charlie Brown.

I would have liked to do it a day or two sooner.  Carving pumpkins is not to fun when you are little.  Josh ended up doing 98.4% of the work.  Claire actually touched the slimy stuff willingly this year!

I made caramel apples that night as well.

Someone was enjoying hers a little too much and got loopy.

Helping sister.

Finished Jack-o-Lanterns.

Claire was so excited when she woke up on Halloween morning.   I felt sad for her that the fun part of Halloween is only the last 3 hours of the day so I put aside my aversion to the library (and other "community events" involving children) and took the girls to the library Costume Parade.  The "parade" was actually a bunch of kids standing in a line to get candy but it was an excuse to dress up and Claire had a good time.  Her friend Mindy was there so that was great.
The library had a craft for the kids....

and then for some reason gave them whistles.  Smart.

Afterward, Claire looked at books with Mindy

While Joy sat patiently and waited.  Cause she's just awesome like that.
 v

When it FINALLY got dark, we went trick-or-treating around the block for about 45 minutes and then to the Harvest Carnival at church.  Claire played some games but mostly spent her time in the bounce house.

Joy, once again, spent the night waiting for her sister but she knew where the good stuff was.

For some reason Joy wanted to sit in the stroller most of the night.

But we made her play the one game there that she could do.

She was terrible at it.

Before we knew it Halloween had come and gone.
