The Beginning

So, I too have been sucked into this blogging thing – maybe I am trying to be. Whatever I put up here will probably end up being for my own organization needs but some things might be insightful to whoever reads it. I plan to put my recipe collection, product reviews, and any or all info baby/ health related. So here ya go. A day in the life of Kathleen. Scary stuff.

Well, I guess I will start with what I am concentrating my focus on right now…. Buying a new highchair.

Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We registered for and received the Fisher Price Space Saver Highchair. We thought this would be perfect for us because we have the new style table that is counter height (also a mistake but that is another story) so any other high chair would be too low. It is a great height and it looks okay, but let me tell you, whoever designed it must have not ever had a baby. It doesn’t sit fully upright so Claire is reclining as she tries to eat. It has three straps to buckle together around the child but that is just stupid because with the tray on, it is impossible to stand or fall out. So, the straps and buckles can’t really go anywhere so Claire ends up sitting on them and I am sure that that can’t be too comfy.

The tray is impossible to take off and on with one hand and it very unstable feeling. You never know if it is really locked on or not. The chair/tray is so big you can’t scoot it really close to the table so Claire feels excluded from us during mealtime. (or so we believe) Needless to say, Claire hates this chair and she just screams whenever we put her in it.

We have been looking for a hook-on high chair in thrift stores, you know, the good old-fashion kind, but to no avail. Here is the one we are wanting.

Inglesina Fast Table Chair - Cioccoleto - Inglesina - Babies"R"Us

The price is high ($60) but I guess not really when you think of how much the Space Saver or any other high chair costs. We really need to get this before we go the beach house with Josh’s parents this summer. We aren’t dragging that other monstrosity with us just to have Claire arch her back and scream in it while try to have a peaceful dinner.

If anyone has a hook-on chair (any kind any style) that they are looking to get rid of, let me know. Also, we have a fantastic Space Saver for sale.
